I hate it when I'm in a loud place where you have to really speak up to be heard by your date. Then, right when you say something rather personal, the band stops and everyone hears that you aren't wearing any underwear.
When I was in about 7th grade a 1st grader had that happen one day on the bus. He was being picked on by a 3rd grader. Just as he got to the 12 letter word that starts with moth and ends with cker everyone on the bus shut up all at once. Everyone heard him shout it at his heckler but they missed the start where he said: You're a ...........
Those of us who knew his father well had absolutely no doubt where he learned such a big word at such a tender age. I worked for his father from time to time and must admit I learned quite a few new words from him.
True story - I was in the bar/restaurant where my wife worked at the time and was discussing the relative merits of TV/internet providers with the well endowed blond bartender - Eatel, Dish, DirecTV, Charter, and Cox Communications. Just as the song on the loud juke box ended the bartender bellowed "I love Cox!!". She turned red as a beet as the entire bar cracked up.
As my friend opened the car door after going to use the ATM at the bank, she overheard "They were touching your chin? That's gross!" She hadn't heard the first part of the conversation (to do with insects) and she thought the worst. It was hilarious!
