Have you ever held a cat by the neck, and tried to MAKE him eat something? (Medicine or whatever) You know "This is for your own good..."

Now, it may be a good cat, but even good cats will respond with claws & jaws.

So, we learn to respect cats.

What about each other?

Should we try to FORCE FEED our ideology on others? Is that respectful?

Do you like to be dominated, right down to your north arrow?

What are your thoughts about respect?

I am trying to learn to be more respectful.

Relationships are built with respect.

Nate this is very true.
They say 'respect is earned'. Well in a way I agree but that's a conditional way of treating respect.

Mm. A thought provoking matter.

You're quoting Aretha, right.
I just wanted to make sure people understand that.

As far as Nate?
I think he scores a very good point (again).

Perhaps, like Aretha, he was quoting Otis

Respect...

..is not turning ones thread from into a political discussion so it needs to be removed from the board.

"Should we try to FORCE FEED our ideology on others? Is that respectful?"

So where do you stand on prayer in schools?

I give respect if its deserved and am respectful . But I refuse to be politically correct for the sake of respect as it has an agenda . Don't force your views on me unless you want my opinion or claws.

Respect must be earned, it cannot be demanded. First "Life Lesson" any new 2LT learns.
Respect is usually given to only those who respect us.

We humans tend to spend a lot of time obsessing over ourselves, more or less, depending on the person. But amazingly enough, most people spend very little of their time obsessing over us.

I would say that if you want to take everything personally, and keep a tally of every slight, real or imagined, you are not going to be a very happy person. However, you will stay busy.;-)

Paul said "Pray without ceasing, for this is the will of God, in Christ Jesus, concerning you".
I tend to think that most normal Christians are going to be doing that. No matter where they are. Not just in school.
Most prayer should be private. Jesus said that we should secretly pray, and that our Heavenly Father would reward us openly.
Open, or public prayer should be done occasionally, so that the group can agree in prayer. I kindly suggest that we should be praying for the families in Connecticut that lost their loved ones, and children. That's how I deal with it.

Thank you for your question.

Have you any prayer requests?

Nate

"Have you any prayer requests?"

When I have a serious one, it'll go straight to you, Nate.
Excellent post.

Respect...

I responded to that post you refer to and being here for sevearl months I try to tailor my posts within unspoken guidelines and with respect for others without loosing my own idea. The idea for that particular response was only to console and share humanely in an inhumane situation. Because of that sense of respect I will ask you if my response was responsible for having the thread removed? If so I apologize, if not, well I guess I'll try to keep it between the guardrails.
