Our transportation needs since the 1950's seem to be the "crack cocaine" of our infrastructure.?ÿ It doesn't matter how much local, state or federal money we throw at either repairs or growth; it isn't enough.
According to this report over 47,000 bridges in the Nation Bridge Inventory are in need of emergency repairs or are considered structurally deficient.?ÿ This reflects an ADT of about 178k vehicles. The report states that at the current rate it will take 80 years to upgrade or repair all of these bridges.?ÿ The astounding costs don't include any growth or improvements, just repairs.

I'm going to stop fretting about my next heart attack or stroke because I definitely won't make those next 80 years...It looks like my demise might be from a crumbling bridge with all the miles I log.?ÿ
Avoid Route 1 on the north side of Boston for the next few months. Tobin Bridge repairs have just begun. Lane closures will continue until morale improves.
At the risk of making a political comment, this is or rather was very predictable and only a politician is blind to the obvious.
This nation, The U.S.A. has spent the last 70 years building a world empire that it has neglected itself. We have destroyed and rebuilt other nations and forgot our own and we have allowed it by voting people into office repeatedly who deserved to be stripped of all their wealth and forced to live in a single wide trailer with no ac in Ocala Florida.?ÿ
At the risk of making a political statement there are some U.S. citizens that dream of living in a single wide trailer in Ocala, Florida....even if there's no a/c. 😉
