I'm curious if this is a training situation i.e., the individual needs support and education in order to feel more control of the situation and thus reduce the stress and anxiety that leads to the poor attitude...
Or is this more a case of someone who just wants to fight against everything every step of the way...gear, software, leadership, etc., because they just want things to be simple so they can come to work and turn their brain off on an assembly line before pocketing that cash and making a beeline for the door?

I think it??s a combination of both. Add to that my occasional lack of social graciousness, I have a tendency to be blunt and not sugar coat things. Sometimes that works best for me but with some personality types that don??t have the best communication skills, it becomes personal and barriers are immediately erected. Body language like folded arms are a good indicator. In my case I always try and get out in front of a problem and hit it dead on, but this clashes with some personality types who don??t want to address whatever the issue is because to them it??s about losing face, they tend to make it personal and immediately feel disrespected. They won??t come right out and tell you what??s going on, so instead they??ll sneak barbs in a quick stab in the back, then smile and say just kidding. In this particular case the guy is very resistant to asking for help and allows himself to get very frustrated. I on the other hand have no qualms about asking for help wherever I can get it but not without first making the effort on my own. One of the worst employees I ever had was very manipulative and even tried to black mail me using the board as a hammer. (That didn??t end well for him) My last conversation with him went something like this. ??I don??t see how anyone can stand to work for you, you really need help.? To which I replied, ??You are absolutely correct, I do need help. That??s why I hired you. All I??m getting from you are sour grapes and zero help. Good luck.?
