I was once working on a huge 3000+ ac. ranch a few miles from here.?ÿ Most of the place was wide open rolling prairie and the owner kept a large herd of bison.?ÿ As I was driving on a ridge I noticed I had gotten the herd to trot away from me. Feeling playful I drifted down off the ridge and was running parallel to the herd about 200 yards away.
I hadn't noticed as I dropped down I had accidentally cut a calf from its mama.?ÿ As I slowed to let the herd exit I noticed mama had noticed I was stopping and she thought that would be a good time to defend the calf and run me off.
She came up along the passenger side blind spot and as I came to a full stop she rammed my truck.?ÿ Hit it hard enough to ruin the fender and wrinkle the hood.?ÿ One hit was all it took.?ÿ I was gone after that.?ÿ Lesson learned.
