I'd have to say that this old gas pump with the 10 gallon (unbroken) glass reservoir at the ranch where a recent project took me is one of the neater artifacts of old-time Texas. It's sort of like finding one of the old Delco battery jars that ran the radio before rural electrification.
I think that 'pipe' behind the pump is what the lawyers call a 'relict filler tube'...they seem to be interested in them as they are always wanting me to certify that there are none on the subject property.
Nice Picture!

We used to have a Skelly gas pump similar to the one below on our farm when I was growing up. Not as old, but old. Surprised that one is still there.

Probably a big part of the reason is that the woman who owned that ranch in the middle 1920's owned it for over fifty years thereafter. Most of the structures on the ranch were in pretty good shape. I suspect that later owners let the pump rust for its picturesque value. It's right across a gravel road from the headquarters.

My neighbor had on of those on his farm during my youth ('50's)
