This is not a discussion of politics or religion, it is a quiz on the facts.
Note, admin may relocate at his desire, not at any complainer's request.
Neither is this a debate on that they were all men.

There have been 43 men elected as President, Obama is the 43rd man and the 44th President.

How many men have been elected Vice President ?
(The above includes early VPs who were second in the Electoral College vote)

Bonus question, How many men have been Vice President ?

I request that you not go to the internet for your first reply, memory or your personal texts only for your first response.

Tyler, A. Johnson, and Arthur had no VP. Lincoln had two. FDR had three. Nixon had two. I think Jackson had two. Ford's was appointed, not elected.

So I think the number is 47, with 46 elected.

Quiz On The Vice Presidents, How Many Died In Office?

David Rice Atchison (a relative of mine), March 4, 1849.

I believe that the general [historical] consensus, is that he was NOT "President for a single day."

Tyler (Harrison's VP), at 1 month beats A. Johnson (Lincoln's 2nd VP), who had about 6 weeks.

Affirmative On Tyler, But There Are More?

Wlliam R King, Franklin Pierce's VP, lasted 6 weeks.

Chester A Arthur, Garfield's VP, lasted 6 months.

Thomas A. Hendricks, Grover Cleveland's first VP, lasted 8 1/2 months.

Teddy Roosevelt, McKinley's second VP, took McKinley's place in 6 months.

(McKinley's first VP, Garret A. Hobart) lasted 2 years, 8 months.)

Lastly Gerald Ford, Spiro Agnew's replacement under Nixon, was VP for 8 months before replacing Nixon.

One of the most unlucky VP's was Garret Hobart, of New Jersey.

He served as VP under McKinley, having held no previous House or Senate position. He was railroad executive, and an assemblyman and state senator, but more importantly, a power broker in NJ and Republican national convention politics.

McKinley's campaign manager asked him to be on the ticket and he acceopted, becoming one of McKinley's most trusted advisors.

He died in 1899, and in the 1900 election, Teddy Roosevelt was added to the ticket. Of course, Mckinley was shot, and Roosevelt become president, a position that would certainly come to Hobart had he lived.
