I'm having a problem processing vectors in Topcon Tools 7.1. It involves only one observation file. When I process the vectors that use this file the software does the processing portion and then hangs up when calculating the DOPs. It then appears to run in circles until I get a "out of memory" and "runtime" error. I then have to restart the program and/or the computer. Anyone have this problem or have any ideas for a solution?
There may be some "bad goo" in the end of the file. You could try processing only a portion of the observed time, like end it a couple of minutes short. Or convert it to RINEX and then edit the RINEX file to remove the end observations and process the edited RINEX file. Try the shortened session first, its easy.
Thanks for the help. The start date and time on this unit had converted back to the default (1993 date). I converted the file to RINEX and edited the start time. I then imported the RINEX file into Topcon Tools and reprocessed with the new occupation file. Everything worked fine. What is weird is one vector out of 10 had processed using this file.
But thanks again, that's the first RINEX I file I had to edit. Usually my problem is there's not enough satellites, and not amount of editing will fix that.
Hmmmm... look closely at the one station session that you did not process. Did the observation cross a julian day for that one, or something specific that the edit date trapped you in? I would still try processing some segments of your suspect file, maybe find where you do have enough SVs with decent DOP, even though it is a short time span. Give me one good epoch, confirmed by another good epoch or two and you can get a solution that is reliable. If the vector is redundent, throw it in a LSA and let the adjustment tell you if it is good (.. Ellis Veach logic... RIP). I used to do that when we observed static in heavy trees, find small segments with cleaner data. You can play a lot with it, or if the site is close, might be eaiser and more sure just to re-observe it. If it takes a helicopter and a day to get to it, we would work pretty darn hard on the postprocessing.
Whoops, I think I wasn't clear, the edit of the start time fixed the problem. All seven vectors processed (only one processed earlier). I added them to my other 19 vectors and they adjusted beautifully. I also added them to previous work where there were some of the same vectors and they still looked great.
I'm still going to keep all your suggestions though. I try to do all the processing in the travel trailer before we go home. Thanks again for your help.
Happy to help troubleshoot
