Okay, this is just for curiosity's sake. It's a panorama of the old Sante Fe Railroad Depot in Ballinger, Texas that I shot recently while I was working on a project in a nearby county. I want to see how the panoramas look squeezed into a narrower format.

(Note use the "open link in new window" option on your browser)

[Edit: Hmm, not too bad.]

I just ate dinner at an old Santa Fe (I think) Depot at 19th and J Streets downtown.

Not in Ballinger, I'm guessing

> I just ate dinner at an old Santa Fe (I think) Depot

Well, that one in Ballinger is now used as City Hall. The nearest restaurant is where I had breakfast and dinner, Adelita's. The salsa picante was good enough and the prices were hardly stratospheric.

Yes, the format it gets squeezed into is still wide enough to show some detail. It's good to know, but probably still worth linking a more detailed image, eh, Mr. Natural Leu?

Never been to TX, but I sure do appreciate the design of some of the old RR depots.

Nice picture 🙂

it's an Old Spaghetti Factory restaurant...

in Sacramento.

I know it's an old train depot, but I'm not sure which line. I haven't found anything on line briefly searching.

Railroads were the internet

Yes, it's easy to forget that once upon a time the railroads were a very big deal, the lifeline to many small towns. That meant that the rail depot and the streets it fronted on were the vital center of the town.

Well, I think that Rich has staked out Mr. Natural Law (Leu, a bad pun, I admit). Your Mr. Natural would be Mr. Au Natural? :>

Adaptive reuse

> Places like these are treasures. Hopefully it's saved.

Yes, it's being adaptively reused as the City Hall of Ballinger, TX, but in a way that maintains the appearance of the rail depot, a good choice. Ballinger is one of those towns that someone ought to write a movie script around. There are a remarkable number of places to shoot around town and within ten miles of it.

LOL! Yes, who would have thought that Yogic flying would be so slow to catch on in Texas?
