Dang it.?ÿ Just missed seeing this one on MeTV.

One of the actors/actresses appearing in this episode went on to become better known on Star Trek.
As a Mason aficionado - I consider this episode to be the moment the series officially "Jumped the Shark". We have Raymond Burr playing 2 parts, a typical last gasp gimmick writers use when they are out of ideas.?ÿ Arlene Martel is nice eye candy, but hardly enough to compensate.?ÿ ?ÿ
There were only 4 more episodes made after this one before the series shut down. By this time the series had drifted away from its Film Noir roots to some sort of 77 Sunset Strip analog with a morbidly obese male lead and a 44 yr old mother of 3 as a love interest. Ray Collins (Lt. Tragg) was dead and William Talman (D.A. Hamilton Burger) had lung cancer.?ÿ I love the series, but the last couple of seasons do not live up to to the legend.?ÿ?ÿ
Perry (Raymond Burr, that is) would have rather gone away for the weekend with Paul Drake than do the same with Della Street.
?ÿ
The two most recent episodes on MeTV late in the evening are from the time when Burr was hospitalized/treated for some ailment and missed four shows.?ÿ He did pre-record a few short bits so he could actually appear in the episodes.?ÿ Bette Davis and Michael Rennie were the replacement attorneys.?ÿ Both did a good job of startling Hamilton Burger.

Perry was married to the law. Della Street didn't want to be a stay at home mom (this was discussed in at least one of the novels), which Barbara Hale was after the series ended. Raymond Burr had a male "life partner", but I don't think he was ever the sort that "went away for weekends" with anybody of either gender.?ÿ ?ÿ?ÿ
As you know, Barbara Hale was the mother of The Greatest American Hero.
