Yea, but they have to make their own ink from rattlesnake gizzard juice and ocotillo charcoal. 😉

The handwriting has to be as atrocious as possible so the other Surveyors can't read it.

In the mid 1960s a great aunt retired and gave me a cigar box full of fountain pens and spare parts.
I used them thru high school and college.
That prepared me for crow quill and broad point pens used in college drafting.
After a semester and a half I began drafting for an Engineer at nights and he had a vast supply of Rapidiograph pens and my torture was over for awhile.
After college the Surveyor I worked for used adjustable pens that used one drop of ink at a time.
