This looks to be a very interesting match up on our pick 'ems this weekend. I looked at ESPN and they are touting the Irish D'fence but say they have only played teams ranked 49th or worse for offense. I think we will find out this weekend if they are as good as the sportscasters think they are.
Personally, I think they are the real deal but don't know if they can stifle the Sooners enough to make the difference. I think it might come down to fumbles or interceptions this weekend. Turnovers, they are not just for breakfast.
It seems to me that the Irish are a little like K-State. Very fundamental and well coached where the Sooners are a bit more of a loose cannon type team.
The Notre Dame defense has been very impressive this season. They average 10 ppg on that side of the ball.
The offense seems to get quite tired as each game wears on though. They have scored more points in the first quarter this season than any other quarter, and each quarter sees fewer points. The same could be said of their defense though because their opponents have scored more points in the fourth quarter than any other quarter.
Oklahoma's rush defense is a little soft. Notre Dame averages close to 200 ypg on the ground.
It promises to be a good game.
I th Sooners that showed against Tech and Texas, Sooners by 2 td's. If not, It could be a long day on Owen Field.
Notre Dame has spoiled Oklahoma's day before and could do it again this Saturday night.
This year they have more to fight for so I think it is gonna be a new classic in the making.
Notre Dame by 5.
HOOKEM HORNS
Interesting Question
Notre Dame hasn't allowed a rushing touchdown all season...Sooners have Bell Dozer.
Notre Dame's defense has only allowed 4 tds (out of 20 attempts this season) in the red zone...an area where OU could show some improvement.
Both teams (and QBs) have very similar numbers this year.
It's a good matchup. I think it will be a game of defense and coaching. Which ever team wants the win worse will take it.
All that logic and 4 bucks will buy you a cold beer at Boyd and Asp this Saturday. And on game days it is legal in Norman to walk around with a cold one in your hands.
Sooners 38
Notre Dame 24
BOOMER!
ps - Las Vegas is putting their money on the Sooners.
