Up North
Down South
Back East
Out West
My first trip to the east coast (first time I was 51) was confusing since the ocean has always been west for me. I was constantly 180° off.
I have developed a habit over the years, that once I arrive at a new job, I will walk a short distance away from the truck, get out my compass and face North for a few moments. Most of the time I already know where North is, but on the chance that I am wrong, it helps me to reset my internal compass. I have also found over the years, that if things do not seem to be going well in finding the corners of the tract, if I will take a moment and find North on my compass and turn and face North for a moment, that my luck will change for the better. Maybe it just helps to reset my internal compass or maybe it just gives me a chance to settle back down to where I can begin to unlock the mystery of the tract.
