TV guaranteed the NFL $2,000,000,000 whether they played football or not.

TV will add a small charge and get that $2,000,000,000 + from the advertisers.

The advertisers will add some more and get that $2,000,000,000 + + from the consumers.

It is going to cost you money whether you watch TV or not.

BTW I watched about 5 hours of NFL in 2010 and I use some of the products I saw advertised.

I also doubt you will get a refund on your Premium TV package either.

This really doesn't take into account that the networks will run other shows (with advertisements) in the slots where the NFL games would have been ...

There are a few sportscasters and egomaniac players that I welcome not having to hear in the off season. An entire season with them off the airwaves may be worth it.

Then they would probably be sent to give voice to the college games to ruin my whole season.

The other fear is that they will fill the timeslots with more reality shows.

Maybe they could combine the two and have something like "obnoxious celebrity sports casters beatdown" to offer some satisfaction. Throw a few select referees into the mix and college football could be saved.

NFL Owners Have The Money In Hand.

TV has to cover that loss by collecting from other advertisers.

I doubt any advertiser would pay the same rate to show a commercial during "Heidi" as during a football game.

The trickle down will affect you whether you watch TV or not.
