We had a fellow in a small town when I was a little kid who's name was Pud. Have no idea what his given name was. Pud was easy to pick out of a crowd as his brother was the only other person of African descent for at least 15 miles in any direction.
Had a young man on our crew from Chicago named Roger Whacker. His nickname was "Tally"
