With the New Year close upon us I would like to share an experience with you about drinking and driving.
Some of us have been known to have brushes with the authorities on the way home from a social session with family and friends.
Well, yesterday I was out for an evening with friends and had a few drinks followed by a bottle of champagne.
Feeling relaxed, I still had the sense to know I was over the limit and I did something I've never done. I took a taxi home.
Sure enough on the way there was a police sobriety checkpoint, but because I was in a taxi they waved it through.
I arrived home safe without incident. The surprise was that I had never driven a taxi before. I don't even remember where I got it.
It's in my garage and I don't know what to do with it. If you want to borrow it, give me a call.

Be thankful,

In Texas, if the law enforcement agents are zealous enough and want you, it is not uncommon for the passengers to get punished for open container law, have a blood alcohol level over the limit, public intoxication, etc if any used bottles or cans can be found in the vehicle or is you simply appear impaired compared to what they deem "normal".

Have a SAFE and Happy New Year Everyone

maybe that is why I stay in my cave and only come out for supplies and to survey land :manhole:

Sober drivers are important. But it;s going to far for a passenger to get nailed for "public" intoxication while getting a ride home.

A great way to end up with a cab in the garage.
