We made it here this afternoon.
This is the view from our room. French Quarter to the left.
Late lunch here (Central Grocery) and just wandered for a while. More pictures to come I'm sure.

Hello Andy,
Glad you made it.
I see by the view that you are at the Westin.
Good choice.
I guess you may be wondering why those two buildings exist in the parking lot in the view. It's a long story.
Anyway you are close to lots of sites to see.
For quick bites... Johnny's Poboys on St. Louis off Decatur or the Napoleon House on Chartres.
Beckham's Bookstore on Chartes across from HOB is nearby. When I was a young carpenter, I built the bathrooms for the store. It had none.
If you feel like looking at historic maps, Historic New Orleans Collection on Chartres next to K-pauls.
If you wander across Canal (widest city street ROW in the U.S. ) over at Lafayette Square there is a 19th century USCGS lat/long stone.
Further up the street is the National WW2 museum and a little further at Lee Circle is the Confedrate Museum.
I was in the city yesterday with my son for a soccer game at City Park Pan American stadium. We got home late.
City Park post Katrina has undergone a very positive renaissance and continues to get better.
Have fun
If you have a hankering for Cajun food and ambiance, I suggest you try Mulate’s, which is located at the northwest corner of Julia Street and Convention Center Blvd.
When you're done looking at the historic maps, you could do a lot worse than K-Paul's for dinner.
Will you still be around by the weekend? I have a condo on Royal St. and will be there Friday mid day.
Would enjoy meeting you.
We leave here on Sunday afternoon. 404-992-3164.

You should check out the Creole Tomato Fest in the French Market on Saturday for the music and food. Its free. Be prepared, Also on Saturday is the New Orleans Naked Bicycle Ride where a hundred or so naked bicycle riders pedal through the French Quarter.
I saw that a few tears ago at the Tomato fest with our young son to SWMBO's astonishment at the time.
They use to combine the Tomato fest with the FQ Zydeco Fest bit they split off recently.
Enjoy!
Day 2
Just remember where you got you shoes at...
I've seen the signs for the
Tomato Fest, but I'll be on the lookout for the bike ride too.
I visited the WWII museum this morning, humbling to say the least. We had a couple of WWII vets in the audience and they got a standing ovation.
