Saw it today. It is a very good production. While the subject matter isn't aimed at the working man, it is definitely aimed at all of us. How do we treat others? Why do we treat them as we do? The movie hits at a number of different levels of mistreatment that have been common through the centuries. For those like me who remember the early- to mid- 1960's this will be somewhat nostalgic. It's not just a matter of Black and White, but, all people towards those who are different than themselves.
Speaking of nostalgia. Watching Sissy Spacek play a senile old woman is a far cry from watching her as a high school girl being taunted in the showerroom. Cicely Tyson is too old and too infirm to get her work done instead of trotting through the fields. Remembering the scenes shown on the TV's in the movie from when they really happened explains the gray color and general lack of hair on my head. Is 58 really THAT old?
58 is getting YOUNGER every year.
