Beautiful day to look out the window.?ÿ Sustained wind speed is around 20 mph with periods exceeding 40 mph all day long.?ÿ Still much better than the -22 F a couple of weeks ago.

What's spring on the prairie without wind?!?ÿ Like trees changing color in the fall...it's gonna happen.

PS - How did all your calves fare during the cold?

@paden-cash

Better than expected.?ÿ I have noticed two little ones that now have a curl on the end of an ear.?ÿ That's a sure sign the curl will eventually drop off leaving a shorter ear.?ÿ Remember one we had when I was just a little tyke on the farm.?ÿ It was a fine heifer that we held back and had many calves from before she died of old age.?ÿ Both ears were maybe one-third the length they should have been.?ÿ When her calf moo-ed for some reason she would response with "Huh?"

Speaking of napping weather forecasters.

Was reading up the other day on the big business end of local TV station's meteorological departments.?ÿ It's all a big collusion with the NWS and a bunch of national private businesses that supply real-time data and up-to-date forecasting.

The local "weatherman" really doesn't do jack anymore.?ÿ He (usually she) just subscribes to a service that spits out forecasts for them to read on the six o'clock news.?ÿ They apparently spend their time working on the "pretty pictures" shown to us on their map.

There's one underfunded local over-the-air TV station that I watch for weather.?ÿ They're just about as wrong as everybody else, but at least someone has the juevos?ÿto step out and make a real prediction.

Our weather last night... Snow.
Our weather this morning... Snow.

We're currently at our friends vacation home in the mountains. We were headed home today, but...too risky with no chains and snow at the passes. Oh well...Guess we'll have to soak in the hot tub one more day! YAY!!?ÿ ???

Lava Butte Snow

If you want to know where the forecasts come from, go to this site and find your nearest NOAA weather station location. That will take you to the scientific discussion area where the forecasters summarize what they think will happen and why.?ÿ They will also say how confident they are their predictions, or at least ours do.?ÿ I always look at this when needing to cut hay, to see just how big of a gamble it is.?ÿ?ÿ

@noodles

Too much time in the hot tub will give you wrinkles that won't go away.......ever.

Well, we're still at the vacation home. Snow at the passes and here = not risking it! We'll try again tomorrow and see how far we get. ?????ÿ
