We are heading up to Cape Breton Island tomorrow morning for a motorcycle tour. My last trip up there was 25 years ago. It was a pretty interesting time. The highlights included the scenery, being hit by a rouge wave as we crossed a bridge, and being immersed in Celtic culture.
Last time we found ourselves in an area where we could not understand the Scottish dialect. They might as well as been speaking German. Purportedly there are dialects that exist only in Cape Breton and have in fact died out in Scotland.
great time of year to go. My sister in law spends the last two months of summer there. We went last year for a long week. Watch out for the coyotes as they killed a singer last year in the highlands. Probably Inginoosh (sp) area you remember with the wierd dialects. Temp was 70 deg there and 102 deg in Virginia yesterday afternoon. Lots of bikes. I'm envious,
I took my first and only motorcycle trip there back in August of '77 on my '66 Norton. The engine seized on the way back in Cherryfield, Maine, and to top that off, when we got home we found out that Elvis had died. Memorable summer! Have a great trip!
Ah, the Rouge Wave!

Very appropriate that Merlin the Red would have been the target of a rouge wave. :> Otherwise, it sounds like a great place to visit (if you can stay away from the mascara bars, that is).

Kent: Help me out here! What is a mascara bar? Do you know something about Canada that I don't?

Well, if Americans are making trips to Canada to buy pharmacy items, maybe they are loading up on rouge and mascara while there, too. Knowing the Canadians, they probably have the whole thing organized around a beer tap.
