The invitation to a friend's birthday party said "Bring your instruments"
There were 2 guitars, a base, bongos, a mandolin, 2 harmonicas and 1 Total Station.
I set up my spare Total station next to the band.
I must have shown the 4 visable moons of Jupiter to 50 people.
I had an explanation of how those moons led Galeleo to get in trouble with the Pope and how the French used the moons to determine longitude before the invention of the chronometer.
I had a blast.

What were these people drinking that they were enthralled with looking through your "camera" to get a peak at Jupiter's full moon? Jupiter was a guy for gosh sakes. I don't want to look at any guy mooning me.:-P

Glad to hear I am not the only person who thinks the moons of Jupiter are a very big deal. Like you say, Galileo and the pope had a minor disagreement over the matter. You know the disagreement was minor because all the pope did was sentence Galileo to house arrest for the rest of his life. Had it been a significant disagreement there would likely have been an order to execute the man.
