I'm not a big fan of this particular exhibition, but I have been following Aaron Judge's rookie year with some interest, so I guess I'll watch it tonight.

Any "bets" on the outcome?

Note, anybody remember the Mickey Mantle v. Willie Mays Derby's?

I'll Dvr and I don't bet.
Been enjoying the Baby Bombers.
Judge et al.

The Dodger kid may be the sleeper.
But Giancarlo will be hard to beat on his turf.

anybody know how they calc the length of the HR? Is it the dist where the ball hits the ballpark? Or is it on a projected path on the arc to the plane of the ground? Or some other method?

True Dist. (True Distance, a.k.a. Actual Distance) - If the home run flew uninterrupted all the way back to field level, the actual distance the ball traveled from home plate, in feet. If the ball's flight was interrupted before returning all the way down to field level (as is usually the case), the estimated distance the ball would have traveled if its flight had continued uninterrupted all the way down to field level.

Std Distance (Standard Distance) - The estimated distance in feet the home run would have traveled if it flew uninterrupted all the way down to field level, and if the home run had been hit with no wind, in 70 degree air at sea level. Standard distance factors out the influence of wind, temperature and altitude, and is thus the best way of comparing home runs hit under a variety of different conditions.

Stupid me, cripes I thought someone had resurrected "Michael Binge" again. It took a while to figure this post was about Major League Baseball. Sorry.

@Chuck S I also remember Mantle, Berra, Richardson, Ford, Marris and Kubek. 😎

Saw this picture and thought that I would append it here.
This guy was hit by a line drive foul that came off Aaron Judge's bat the other night at the Stadium. The stat cast had it traveling at 105 mph.
They had paramedics check him out.
He looked like he experienced satori.

And of course there is that Yogism when he had a X-ray taken of his head and he said that it showed nothing.

Number 49 AND 50 today...a new rookie record!

Looks like he has broken out of his LONG slump after the All Star Game.

🙂
