Reckon this will last longer than the 1 day retirement early this year?

The theory is Foley talked him into being a "figure head" coach this season (just to keep his outstanding recruiting class together from last season), and this season was OC Addazio's "audition" as head coach. Well, Addazio sucked, UF was like 97th in offense... Hopefully we go after a real headcoach instead of promoting Addazio.

Everytime this happens UF calls Stoops, and Stoops gets a raise from Oklahoma. I'm guessing Utah's Wittingham, Auburn OC Malzahn, Mullen from MSU, Strong from Louisville, or maybe Gruden (because he said he wanted the UF job when Zook was hired) .... who knows, maybe Spurrier comes back. He'd probably know what to do with John Brantley.

I can't see Spurrier coming back. He'd be hard pressed to match his earlier record.

this is a very disrespectful post and should be moved the 'employment issues' category. you might has well have just walked on the football field and taken a dump.

Meyer Was Too Stressed Out

He is 46 years old. In the 6 years he is at Florida he is 65-15 0.8125.

Joe Paterno is 83 years old. In those same 6 years Joe is 58-18 0.7632. He is not too stressed out.

Urban Meyer was worried too much about Urban Meyer's record. What he should have been worrying about was whether Cam Newton was studying and going to class.

I do not think he is retiring, but instead making himself available for the Notre Dame job.

Good call, LPL. There are some other real peachy coaching vacancies available too. Urban is no fool, he wants to take his pick, hence the so-called retirement. "More time with the family", yeah right. You know what that means. It's just like saying "it's not about the money", i.e. meaningless. He hasn't seen his family in years, probably doesn't even know his own kid's names or how many there are. Last time he saw his wife she was probably somewhere in Utah. Maybe he's angling for the much coveted Boise State job, which by all reports from the pundits and the fan bases at Pitt, Miami, Minnesota and several others, is soon going to be open.

If Dan Mullen is from the Urban Meyer school of bull $h!t double speak, I wouldn't believe him. I love Urban Meyer, but he's constantly lying to the press. Just last week he said he was commited to recruiting and getting the program on the right track, and two days ago he said he didn't have any planned coaching changes ...

As for the Notre Dame job, I doubt it. He has serious medical problems. He just walked away from $20 million dollars and a school that adored him ...

BTW ... didn't Mullen just interview for the Miami job? How commited it that? Anyway, I'd perfer Leach, Peterson, or Malzahn. Someone who knows how to throw the ball north-south.

Maybe He Just Wants To Choose Where He Dies

Notre Dame is in his gut, he may be willing to give it all up for sainthood.

He has however given his current team enough incentive not to show up on January 1, 2011.

Another thought, maybe the Cam Newton investigation dug up something that can be pinned on on Urban. Will 2 National Championship schools hit the skids in the same decade?

One great player does make a difference.

Tebow
V. Young
Reggie Bush

Hell, lets throw Bradford and McCoy in there.

They do not come along very often, but when you have them, a coach just goes for the ride.

They make a coach look like a genius.

Retire while your name is still in good standing for future jobs.

Urban is playing us for fools.

Not buying it the family thing.

You don't know what you're talking about. Urban went undefeated at Utah, and was the first mid-major coach to win a BCS bowl game. Then won a national championship with Chris Leak. Then won a national championship with Tebow. We wasn't a one-trick pony. The dude can coach.
