On my way back from my adventure from MI, I did encounter some very bad road. Specifically it was I-94 around the Kalamazoo area right before the crash that involved 200 cars or so, killed a few folks, and some are still not well. I opted to head South before there, mostly to avoid all the stuff in Chicago traffic. Via Ft Wayne, Indy, St Louis, Tulsa, OK'ville, just to get on I-40. It is shorter, but I don't like driving through St Louis unless I have to.

Opps, I'm going about 45 on an interstate and all the other traffic was doing like wise. Lots of spacial good amongst us travelers. Then some wise guy decided to make my truck spin out on some icy patch that this life long MI driver did not detect. I ended up in a spin out and came to a stop on the oncoming (East bound I-94) guard rail. That would be on the other side of the 12" deep snow ridden median.

I did immediate damage control, truck was running, lights worked, and life seemed good. I drove the rest of the way back to AZ (2,000 miles or so). I did leave the bumper, grill and ?? at the guard rail after I got done wiping my pants.

Talked to the nice Progressive lady (Flo) and got it sorted out in a day or so. Cool.

Opps again, they forgot to sign the check I deposited. It was around $2,100 and quite frankly was counting on that and spent some of it. Truck is good. Nobody hurt. Now I have issues with Progressive and Aunt Flo, but hear say says the check is in the mail.

Vent off

PS - I tried to upload the picture of it, but it's about 2.6 megs and we can't do that here. Ok, fine. But the point is my truck is ok but pretty dinged up, as am I, and Flo is full of..... 😉

You can resize any picture in Microsoft office picture. It takes two clicks.
It sounds like you escaped without any injury. As for your insurance, if they cut you a check by looking at some photos, they are going to low end the amount. But it may have saved you other hassles.

My experience with Progressive is, they contact the body shop of their choice you take your vehicle there and get it fixed. I never saw the bill at all.

Yea Robert, I will say that my initial experience went well with the insurance folks. They were fast, professional, and delivered very timely upon my reporting it.

No problems with the amount they paid out (less my $500 deductible), just with the fact I thought I had the money in hand and it was not in fact in my hand. Somewhere in purgatory, but the new "check is in the mail". I'll likely have it Mon or so??.

I'll likely stay with them, but it's just frustrating when you have a clerk or some rubber stamper not take care of things that have major impact on their customers. My bad for not noticing it... as I cash checks all day long. Still... :-S
