The greater part of Jefferson's extensive library was purchased, some years prior to his death, to form the basis of the Library of Congress. These must be a few special ones he kept or acquired in his last few years.

Jefferson's Library (the one he sold to the LoC) has been re-created for an exhibit at the Library of Congress. It contains those books of Jefferson's that escaped the various fires along with duplicates for the volumes lost. It's worth a look if you're in DC. It's in the Jefferson building.
