Pretty good. Not for everyone. Helps if you have some memories of the man and how he ran the FBI. Clint Eastwood directed it. One of those movies where they jump back and forth through time so that you have to pay attention. One second it is 1970 something and the next it is 1932 or 1919 or 1963. It is over 2 hours long so buy a really big bag of popcorn and a really big drink. Minimal foul language until Richard Nixon is sitting in the Oval Office. Classic line: "I'd rather have a dead son than a daffodil for a son."
Thanks for the review. I had wondered if it was any good.
I liked the movie!
I was disappointed although the cross dressing and potential gay relationship was handled tastefully..
Dicaprio did well as hoover, but I don't think the movie delved quite enough into the intrigue of his work. The Kennedy assignation was there but any question about hoover was left out. No mention of Johnson but there was a pretty good review of the Nixon feud. The King coverage was adequate but virtually nothing of Bobby Kennedy's death.
I am not a Dicaprio fan so I might have been tainted, but I am well versed in the era and think that more could have been done.
