?ÿ
I walked myself to death looking for this little guy. But as they say momma knows best. And right before sunset momma disappeared and returned with her little man. She had him hid well as I searched every crevice.
It is truly amazing how they can hide in plain sight.?ÿ All it takes is for a shadow to fall in the correct place or for any one of?ÿ a hundred dried cow piles you can spot to actually be what you are searching for.?ÿ I finally found one a couple of months ago directly in front of a large, dark brush pile on the shady side.?ÿ We had been within 15 feet of it a few minutes earlier.
It helps if the mother happens to sneak a look off in the correct direction and you are lucky enough to notice that look.?ÿ However, the older they get the more they know you are looking for that sign so they intentionally stare off in the wrong direction long enough to make sure you seem them do it
To quote a nursery rhyme that DOES NOT involve a calf:?ÿ Leave them alone and they'll come home, wagging their tales behind them.
@holy-cow so true. I arrived this morning and saw my ild faithful cow all bagged up and i said she just had that calf last night. So i road around first in the truck. No calf. Then i walked all around no calf. I said ok lets get some work done. So I started mowing on a field and kept watching the herd from a distance. This afternoon as i was still mowing i was counting heads on each pass. I said i am missing a cow. So i headed of the back field on tractor and eased up i to the field where i calve and counted again. Yep 1 missing. I sat there for a moment texted the wife and said y??all grab your boots and flashlights we have a calf missing and momma is off somewhere. About 5 minutes later here she comes with the little wobbly legged critter right behind. I have no idea why i always stress. They always show up and are just fine. ?ÿLike your rhyme. Just leave them alone they have it covered. Thing is i walked those woods like looking for a needle in a hay stack. Lol
