I fling 25 arrows in the morning and 25 in the evening, I enjoy the shooting and the idea of becoming more and more precise & accurate with practice. I think I may have created a pincusion this morning,
Why is one arrow longer?
One of the issues with shooting a tight pattern, at $10 each arrow it can get costly to be precise, accurate, & consistant....still fun though.
Robin Hood!
yep, if someone is a target then it would not be advisable to walk across my backyard, I am pretty sure I could have gotten Bin Laden in the eye if they would have taken me with them on the mission.
I can do that - easy at 10' away:-) cool! split that arrow!

That's a great Idea, and one that I should follow, but Im not one to try and put 25 in one spot. I like to move them around a bit to avoid the Pincusion;-)
Im pretty sure my groups wouldn't be quite so tight no matter my desired target, but that depends on the distance.:good:

Had some bales set up at 25 yards when I was using a bow to hunt with, when they got shot up I hung used carpet in front of them to stop the arrows, would cut out a patch when needed. Never ruined a shaft, did tear some fetching and had replaced some nocks.
Think the bow is an early bear compound, 75 pounds if I remember correctly, have to look at it tonight. Arrows all need re-fletching, still have the jig but my replacement fletching is probably bad.
jud
Nice shooting!
Be careful with the splintered carbon, though. That stuff can be nasty.
We start our practice sessions at the club next Monday. Three or four of us place 3D targets in random spots and rotate lead shooters.
It's great practice and we come up with some challenging shots. Nothing sharpens a skill like practice in real world conditions. Summer practice pays off in the fall!
Good job!

With five bullseyes available, why do you shoot at only one and increase the risk of damage to the arrows?

Bill, I just got back into it after many years, still re-learning old lessons, in the future I will only shoot two at each dot.
I have been shooting the same spot to align my sights with as few variables as possible, also it is nice to observe the pattern that emerges. However, at $10 each arrow I think I am over the pattern watching phase and in the future will have two targets giving me 10 spots, then shoot 20 arrows each round.
I am glad it happened once though, it looks pretty cool.
i used to shoot archery tournaments. the event was called 'field archery'; was basically a course set in the woods, shooting paper circular targets, between ten and eighty yards.
we walked in foursomes. bob, gary and jason were in my group. jason was about the same level as myself, bob and gary were much better than us.
about half way through the tournament, jason is beating me by a couple points, and subsequently talking trash to me. jason shoots his end and steps aside for gary to shoot. gary was getting tired of hearing jason's banter, so instead of aiming for the paper dot, he aims for the nocking point of one of jason's arrows(this was an arrow that scored a bullseye). gary shot into jason's arrow, broke off the nock point and got into the back of the other arrow. completely inside, as gary was shooting easton ACE arrows, very slim. that robin hood now makes both arrows gary's property.
the rest of the tournamet was jason complaining about the cost of arrows. i ended the tournament beating him by only a couple points. very satisfying
