I'm often critical of my local State government. This has to beat all, though.
First I'm going to ask how many of you guys have worked highway construction?
Next I'm going to ask how many of you guys understand that the Friday afternoon before a holiday weekend is NOT a good time to try and close an off-ramp on a very busy inter-change (that is already under construction). All in the name of a good photo-op.
I bet traffic backs up for miles.....Great planning you all!
U.S. Secretary of Transportation Foxx and U.S. Senator Inhofe touring transportation project in OKC on August 30
One of Oklahoma City’s busiest interchanges and largest on-going interchange reconstruction projects will receive an up-close visit from the nation’s top transportation official, newly appointed U.S. Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx, on Friday, Aug. 30.
Hosted by U.S. Sen. James Inhofe, an active champion for transportation funding in Oklahoma, Secretary Foxx will visit the ongoing I-44/I-235/Broadway Extension project in Oklahoma City in an effort to see the progress Oklahoma has made in improving its bridges and major traffic corridors.
Foxx and Inhofe are scheduled to be joined by Governor Mary Fallin, Oklahoma Secretary of Transportation Gary Ridley, officials from the Oklahoma Department of Transportation and other dignitaries. This is Secretary Foxx’s first trip to Oklahoma.
ODOT Press Conference Location:
· Friday, August 30
· 2:15 p.m.
· Southbound I-235 ramp to N.W. 50th St.
From southbound I-235, take the closed off ramp to N.W. 50th St. Vehicles will be directed behind the cones and barrels, up the closed ramp and to a parking area at the top of the ramp. The press event will be held at the top of the closed ramp, overlooking the ongoing construction of the new eastbound I-44 ramp and with the recently completed southbound I-235 to westbound I-44 ramp in the background.
Because of limited parking areas on-site, attendees are encouraged to carpool and ride with other attendees.
You can't fix stupid, but you can point at it and laugh. o.O
It's actually in our spec. book that work cannot take place on the friday before Labor Day weekend if traffic is to be maintained through the project ie: not a closed road.
Politico's and their stunts.
