As a seller, have the auctions end on a friday afternoon. People just got paid, they have not paid bills yet and so will be willing to spend more. First of the week, they are broke and that is when a buyer can get a steal.

I BEG TO DIFFER--BEST TO DO THE 10 DAY AUCTION POSTING ON THURSDAY ABOUT 4-7PM ENDING ON SUNDAY EVENING ABOUT 9PM PACIFIC TIME.

DEPENDING ON YOUR ITEM YOU MUST DECIDE TO HAVE A RESERVE OR START IT AT A BUCK OR YOUR MINIMUM AND LET ER RIP--REMEMBER THE MARKET NOW IS VERY DEAD AND SHOULD PICK UP THIS FALL--

BIDDING IS ALSO A SCIENCE, YOU MUST KNOW HOW YOU ARE BIDDING REMEMBER YOUR BID IS ESSENTIALLY A CHECK FOR WHAT YOUR COMPETITION MUST PAY FOR THE ITEM--TDD

I have done quite a lot of 10 days ending Sunday evening and that has worked out, thanks for the tip! I think it is slow right now, I guess it picks up when the kiddies go back to school.

I have always found that ending auctions on Sunday nights (but not too late) was good also, simply because people are at home from whatever they did for the weekend, and before work the next morning.

The Sunday timing thing is good for auction type sales.

I have been at it 10+ years and have sold Japanese cameras to Japan.

If you have an item in demand, do a completed auctions search and find what they sell for.

List your item under "Buy it Now" for at or near the going price you have determined from your search. Try it; you will make more money sooner.

Julie

If it is a high doller item, have it end within the 1st wk of any given month. Folks get thier Govt cheque on the 1st, and then they have money. Kind of like "The heartbeat of Amerika" (being the SS and or crazy checks)
That is, IF you are selling.

IF you are buying, try to buy it during the last 2 wks of any given month, where you must pay for it BEFORE the govt checks come out. Folks are more motivated sellers at this point.

🙂

Hey TDD- I MADE A BIG HIT YESTERDAY ON EBAY

I WAS WATCHING A PARTICULAR SWORD--I KNEW WHAT IT WAS AND KNOW THE VALUE= I CONTACTED THE OWNER, HE'S GOING THRU A NASTY DIVORCE AND HAS BEEN SELLING OFF FOR 3 MONTHS, THE SWORD WAS DEAD IN THE WATER AT 300 DOLLARS--I EMAIL HIM ASKING HIS BOTTOM LINE ON THE SWORD, HE SENT ME BACK HIS PHONE NUMBER SO I CALLED HIM--HE SAID HE WAS GETTING BEAT UP BADLY ON EBAY BUT NEEDS MONEY FAST, HE IS LIVING IN A FRIENDS GARAGE HAVING BEEN REMOVED FROM HIS RESIDENCE BY THE POLICE, HIS WIFE ACCUSED HIM OF VIOLENCE, HE REMOVED A LARGE BOX WITH HIS SWORDS BUT HAD TO SURRENDER ALL HIS GUNS OLD AND NEW TILL THE DIVORCE IS FINAL OR THE JUDGE ALLOWS HIM TO SELL THEM--HE AND I STRUCK IT OFF WELL AND LAUGHED A LITTLE SOMETHING HE HASN'T DONE IN A WHILE--
I THEN ASKED AGAIN WHAT HE WOULD TAKE FOR THE SWORD, HE TURNED IT BACK ON ME, I SAID I DO NOT WANT TO DO THAT AS I DO NOT WANT TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF HIM AND WOULD RATHER HE GIVE ME HIS PRICE AND I'LL TRY TO MEET IT--HE THEN SAID $700 DOLLARS AND HE'S MAILING THE SWORD TODAY--I KNOW THIS SWORD WELL AS I HAD ONE WHEN I SOLD MY COLLECTION TO BUILD MY HOUSE--UNFORTUNATELY, I LET ALL MY RESEARCH GO WHEN I SOLD MINE--THIS IS A VERY EARLY CIVIL WAR SWORD AND I SOLD MINE FOR $7000 DOLLARS IN 1999, SO THERE GOES ANOTHER GREAT DEAL MY THIRD BIG HIT THIS YEAR--MY POINT HERE IS YOU MUST KNOW YOUR STUFF, GET INVOLVED, REMAIN PROACTIVE, DEAL FAIRLY AND FOLLOW THROUGH..
