I kinda introduced a bit of a non-intentional hijack in the Wendell B'Day thread below.
My second grand kid was born at 2:54 EDT. I guess he is 8 lbs, 14 ounces and 21 inches. Sounds like a lunker to me and I'm glad I didn't have to poop that pumpkin out. I still wonder why they measure critters in inches, but us grown up's gotta be in feet & inches? Why not 1.75 ft? Not sure of the metric versions, but I'm sure somebody has it if they care to bother.
Poor little guy is still a Gemini, like his grampy and new uncle Wendell. They share the same B'Day.... as they say back in the Great Lake State ... yahooski
Mom & critter are all fine. 2.5 yr old big brother is at nanna's house. My guess is my son in law is relaxing with a brewski or 10 and waiting for hockey to start and tending to their 3 dogs. I'll probably call him later. Good guy. I think mom & critter get out of hock tomorrow afternoon. Then THEIR fun will really start...lol
Name choices intrigue me. Today Henry is considered to be a great name. The same was true about 100 years ago. Not so much in between then and now. There's a long list of names that sort of fall in that same category. We had a total of one kid in my school days whose name was Henry. And that really sucked for him, considering that his last name was Ford. He faired just a hair better than his brother, Herbert, who was one tough son of a gun by the time he started school.
The good thing about Henry is that everyone knows it's a boy. Can't say the same for Ashton, Morgan, Taylor, Drew and a long list of others.
BTW, congrats Grampy on gaining someone to spoil rotten and someday tell wild stories to about your years in the surveying trenches. Do you get to be called Grandpa or is it a case of where you have to be some weird, made-up name to distinguish you from other senior relatives? Poopah or Gampy Wayne? I have a friend who is Peepah. That just doesn't sound right.
Kinda funny about dumb names for grampy's & grammy's. Not my call though, as they live 2,000 miles away on the shore of now thawed out Lake Michigan.
Poor kid though, just like his big brother - has lots of grampy's. My ex has been re-married 3 times since I dumped her some 25 yrs ago. I call them all my ex-step husbands, which draws many a blank stare. I think so far I'm just grandpa
But critters are fun and it's a blast to watch them eventually turn into humans. Especially when they are somebody else's critter.
Excellent news friend.
Spent most of the afternoon hanging out with my critters. Drew (boy) had baseball practice at the same time KayLynn (girl) had her first ever softball game (combination pitch and T). Meanwhile, Dani (girl) didn't need to report to work at Dairy Queen until 7 so she was able to join us in watching the hilarity happen. Jesse (the dad) was able to be there for a change. Watching a bunch of 7 year-old girls attempt to grasp all the nuances of softball after about three short practices is one of those great opportunities to laugh hysterically while trying to not upset any relatives of the other players. Two hour drive up, three hours of fun and two hour drive back.
