Don't know if I cotton to the idea of calling these things "haboobs". When I was a kid boob was an off-color word.;-)
We just called them dust storms.
However, I guess the spoken word changes over the years. My Grandfather (1875-1966) lived in "Tornado Alley" almost his entire life and never uttered the word tornado.
Some of you all might remember what the old folks called them: cyclones.
As you know, most everything seems to be identified as being female, from ships to cars. So, it must be better to haboobs than to not haboobs.
