I was just looking at radar and a predicted cold front is drooping down into Oklahoma.?ÿ The weather folks are expecting a strong north wind with 25 degree drop in temps tonight.?ÿ Some call it a blue norther.?ÿ And they've been squawking about it for days like it's an meteorological apocalypse. pfff... it's just the seasons changing, that's all.
And here on the prairie the seasons can change abruptly.?ÿ The biggest temp drop around here happened on Nov. 11, 1911 when a blue norther blew in during the day with 60+ mph winds.?ÿ The temperature dropped 66 degrees from a high of 83 to a nighttime low of 17.?ÿ The ensuing wind and dust storm stranded children (in short sleeved shirts I'm sure) at the local schoolhouses in the afternoon.?ÿ The record hasn't been broken in 108 years.
That makes this one is just about average I guess.?ÿ A few more like this and I won't have to rake my leaves...I'll be raking my neighbor's leaves.
?ÿ
Does Radar know you were looking at him? ?????ÿ
We are being threatened with a temp drop around 34 F.?ÿ I can live with that.?ÿ But, if it drops enough to make a hard, killing freeze it will cost me many thousands of potential income.?ÿ Oh, the joys of the farm life.
I recall numerous instances from my time in Norman of scraping frost off the windshield in the morning and running the air conditioner on the way home the same afternoon.?ÿ
Yes, sir.?ÿ Pretty common experience both Spring and Fall
