40 years of housing data – U.S. homes still too expensive for typical families. In 1970 the median home could be purchased with 657 ounces of gold. Today, it only requires 155 ounces. The erosion of the U.S. dollar

YOU KNOW I KNEW THAT--TDD

So then the question arises, which is a more constant measure of value, a home or a pile of gold? Did the home get cheap or the gold expensive?

You can't live in a gold bar, but everyone needs a roof over his head. Sounds to me like gold has devalued.

Gold got expensive because people are hoarding it.

So it's expensive because the market's out of whack.

In a total collapse, gold's only going to have value to someone with use for it.

I say things like tools, guns, ammunition, and so on are more valuable in a total collapse than gold is.

Frank...

Sorry, we had to remove it. We received several complaints about that little movie thing being too gory and graphic. Some even thought it was real and scared the heck out of them! One had a grand kid in his lap and the kid started crying. :-S

Thank you for understanding and please know we do appreciate you being here. 🙂

WTF!!!!!!!!

Any sane, mature person with a room temperature IQ would,,
A) recognize a poor 1980's special effect.
2) not hold a small child while perusing ANY message board not specifically dedicated to children.

Sorry to everyone for that situation. The animated GIF image was indeed very graphic and we did receive several complaints about it. We removed the image, then shortly thereafter, Frank requested his user account be deleted immediately. Of course, I deleted his account as requested.

I'm saddened that it got to this point. If you had a chance to see the image and were offended, I'm truly sorry. I'm also sorry that Frank found it necessary to leave, but that is his choice.

Here's something worth reading if you're thinking about buying gold. I've been saying for years that the spread on buying real gold is ridiculous. Show me a place where a small time investor you can buy and sell hard gold for anything similar to the price per ounce of the spot market. Venders mark is up %35 and want to buy it back for 35% less than the spot market value ...

If you want to play gold as a TRADE, look into the stock ticker GLD, where you can can buy and sell all the gold you want with a $0.02 spread for 1/10 ounce, instead of a $500 spread per ounce ... GLD is backed with real gold, but you don't take possession of the gold when use GLD, they'll store it for you ....
