A lot of posts on here mention getting old. I sort of felt that way tonight, as we went to dine out for our 20th wedding anniversary (my first, her second marriage).
We talked about watching the video from our reception, but sort of lost interest when we realized with sadness how many people in that video are no longer with us. Right off, there were three parents, one grandparent, seven or eight aunts and uncles, and a friend my age. Maybe more, if we watched it. Time certainly marches on.
You're a spring chicken. Just imagine - you had video. Didn't even know what that was when my wife and I got married 44 years ago this coming Friday. And I'm sure there are others on here that will top that. Heck, we were lucky to have color pictures.
Congratulations Dave. Coming up on 36 years in 2 weeks. Gets on her nerves when I introduce her as my first wife!
Dave
You had a six week head start on me. Would be 44 on July 24, but we cut it off after 14 years. Been apart more than twice as long as we were together. Of course, I'm sure you were older and wiser than us. We were 17 and 15 on our wedding day and the baby didn't show up for three years. Fooled pretty much everybody at our wedding.
Holy Cow!
You married an older woman when you were 15?
Holy Cow!
Clearly, I was not clear. I was the elder one, being one month short of turning 18 while she was four months short of turning 16.
I was waiting for someone to ask if those were our ages upon divorcing after 14 years of marriage.
Dave
Older, yes - wiser, not so sure. We were 20 at the time. And I did go for the older woman - she is 9 days older than me.
And to add to the story, we were a computerized date. The predecessor to "match.com" was "Operation Match". That's what hooked us up.
