On Valentine's day we had yet another earthquake.

Here's a wee diagram of some displacements of known marks that it generated 🙁

The earth aint flat, nor is it static.

And, this is why State Plane Coords need to be "Calibrated" locally!

How often do earthquakes occur? Are you in a perpetual adjustment mode. And speaking of earthquakes I also am curious about volcanoes, specifically Kۂlauea in Hawaii. Who owns the "land" created by the lava flow and how is it surveyed?
Sorry for wandering off the point!

I have an earthquake app on my phone that has settings to alert me to certain intensities as well as distances from me. I set it to alert me to any greater than Magnitude 3 within 2500 miles. I have been astounded at the number of Mag 3-4 quakes in Oklahoma. Almost as many as in British Columbia...

"If the position of the line always remained to be ascertained by measurement alone, the result would be that it would not be a fixed boundary, but would
be subject to change with every new measurement. Such uncertainty and instability in the title to land would be intolerable."
Young v. Blakeman, 153 Cal. 477, 481; 95 P. 888 (1908)
