Ugh...rather embarrassing for the Italian bunch.
Hey, I can see how it could happen. Something similar happened to me. Once I was walking past my favorite... er... um... I was walking past a bar and I tripped and fell into it. My wife just wouldn't believe it....
it is an eyeroller for sure, but really disturbing that the entire top echelon of that command was/ is so bereft of character...
If people hadn't lost there lives it would be comical...now its just despicable.
I think this explains it simply.

Something similar happened to me also. I went into the woods and was relieving myself when I tripped and fell into .....
(i guess I shouldn't say that here)
Needless to say; my wife didn't believe that one either.
