would you expect a technology based firm to NOT put out new products? and rumors of the new iphone are always ahead of reality.

fact is, Apple products WORK! why not use them? I've always been tied to PC based computers because of autocad, and had both Dell and Apple (Mac) computers at home. I can tell you the macs I've owned have given me a tiny fraction of the headaches from PC junk.

i never run out to buy the latest because it's new, but when it's time to upgrade, I don't mind knowing that there is always something even newer in the works..

well, sorry, didn't mean to sound like a cult follower. I have used Apples from when they were still called Apple. maybe the brain washing started in 5th grade with the Apple II and IIe in the library.. had a power mac in the early nineties when the internet was just getting in the public eye ( apple's evillage was a neat meeting place) have had a sweet Mac at home for the last 6 years, not more than 1 hour of down time, and I almost never shut it off.

but, i've also loved my commodore64, which got me through college the first time, and my Panasonic Toughbook that I use at the office. So I don't really think they are "all" crap, but they are a Lot more work to keep up with. Apple works to be truly plug and play, and you non-Mac users should really thank Steve Jobs for setting the bar so high that PC makers and programmers had to follow suit.

A MacBook has put up with Claire's handling for at least 5 years which is saying something. The hp I had bought her the year before cried uncle in less than a year. I'm still using the hp but I am a lot kinder to it, I think.

No big surprise, iPhone 2G was released June 2007, the 3G June 2008, 3GS June 2009, 4G June 2010. The only gotcha is for the folks who bought a Verizon iPhone 4 when the schedule shows the 5 should be announced in a couple of months.

I'm free to fix my open source Android until it's broke! Wait...why am I proud of that?

Apple..aniacs

Had been promising the wife that if she met a certain goal then we would buy her a new Ipad, just a fun game to play.

Well last Friday she met her goal and tried to go to the Apple store to get her new Ipad. The salesman told her that they only give out a small number each day and that people come to the store every single day to try to buy them early in the morning.

Since the wifey was bummed that online ordering is 30 to 45 days delivery, I decided to go down early on Saturday, got to the mall apple store at 6:45am and it opens at 9:00am...much to my suprise there was about 60 people already in line.

I asked the first guy in line what time he showed up and he said 3:30am.

I went to the back of the line and waited, thank god I had an Iphone to entertain.

Around 8:55am someone came out and said that they only had 6 and they were black, non 3G nodels with the small hard drives.

I just said screw it and chalked it up to another weird experience, the guy who showed up at 3:30am walked away empty handed also, he need a 3g version.

It just works...well it's harder to break when Steve has it locked down! And to stir the pot...Linux is the bestest OS!

I just bought one today (4, 32 gig.)....but I did need it now, not in a couple months.

After seeing the one my co-worker bought, I was convinced it was what I wanted.

I had been waiting for a hand held GPS that would show my position real-time on an aerial photo. It finally came in the form of a cell phone. The only drawback is the cellular coverage sucks in the mountains. I am hopeful that there will be an APP that will allow you to download the images to the phone and operate without a connection? look for an app called GPS Kit. I've been playing with it.. pretty sure you can set at least a quad map up so that you don't need cell coverage. I think that is a real weak point of the iphone, since it seems like an obvious fix.. but what do I know, I'm just sheeple.

Yeah...I actually thought of finding your place, but we had a bunch of people with us.
We went to Bowmans Beach, then to the Island Cow for some grub..

My Sister lives in Naples, so there will be a next time...

The Cult of Apple is a bit overwhelming to me, and really seems to have less to do with technology than marketing, style and fad. Seems to me that Steve Jobs could put a glossy cardboard box out on the market and call it the iBox and there would be people lining up to buy it.
