Bob:
You had asked about food suppliers a while back. Here is a company, eFoods Direct that I have heard a lot of good things about.
Their food has a guaranteed 15-year shelf life and they offer both dehydrated and freeze dried food. They also have packages in accordance to need, such as, 3-month supply or a year supply for a family of 4. From what I have heard, they have the best prices and quality, and do not sell old food that is well into its shelf life like some bulk food providers do.
I think emergency food storage is a good idea, and after going through 18-days without electricity because of Hurricane Ike, I would recommend emergency food storage to anyone.

What good is a guarantee for a 15-year shelf life if the world comes to an end before that?
Holy Cow
I don't think the expectation is that the world will end, but rather that it will be in chaos.
Besides, as I stated before, the aftermath of a hurricane constitutes an emergency to me. I was very thankful that I made sure to have a month's worth of food and water for my family when most of the city was without electricity.
