On the 27th of March I downloaded and installed the Firefox 4.0 upgrade on my Windows 7 computer. When the install finished, there was a message that popped up showing 3 files that said, "These files were removed because they were not compatible with this version". On my Windows 7 computer system it messed up some of my printer functions. The XP computer as far as I can tell so far, doesn't seem to be affected. Has anybody had this happen to them with Firefox 4.0?
I uninstalled Firefox 4.0 and let it reset back to the previous version. After doing this, I went back to a system restore point a week before the 4.0 install, but this did not seem to resolve the problem. Anyone have any solution to get this corrected? The printer is an HP PSC 1610. When I hooked it up to the Win 7 computer last summer, it seems like I had to us the CD that came with the unit and then had to go on line and download updated software, but I can't remember for sure now. I may have had to uninstall the CD version and go with the download, but too far back and too many things that have been done in the systems to recall all the for sure details of how I did what.
I have Firefox 4.0 on a couple of systems, and everything is fine. I saw no messages like you mention.
All in all, I think I'm adjusting to the more stream-lined layout of 4.0. The thing I dislike the most is that my Sxipper add-on doesn't work in 4.0, and the creator has no plans for creating a 4.0 version of the add-on.
can you update the driver?
I upgraded last week to 4.0 on my XP. Have not noticed anything not working, everything is just different. It takes a few moments for my system to know that I am now surfing the web and then it accelerates and is faster while I am active.
I don't like that all the options to change between pages have moved on the screen and I now have to relearn where on the screen to pick and click to surf.
I had already gone to the HP Site yesterday and downloaded several of the items, but haven't installed them yet. I wanted to wait until I got some feedback as to whether anyone else had run into any problems with the 4.0 version before I did any installs, just to make sure I didn't do something I shouldn't have.
Thanks for the link though and it is the same as where I logged into.
Running fine on my old XP install.

What drivers do you think Firefox shares with a system printer? I can think of... none.
I don't care for 4.0. but will learn.
It was not drivers that were removed but some other printer program files that apparantly are not compatible with 4.0 and now these printer functions effected do not work or are no longer in existance. They are gone. There were 2 or 3 other files that the message said were removed. Unfortunatly I did not write them down and the message did not stay long enough to get all the information.
