A few of the responses in other threads made me curious. How many on the board got started as Military Fire Conrollers on mortars, artillery or naval big guns?
I directed 81mm with the 101st and 107mm with the 2nd d. Surveying was a perfect fit when I got out.
Fire Direction Officer for 8" howitzers and 175mm guns. 3/35th Artillery, 72th FA Brigade in General Support for 7th Army in Europe and the 2/94th Artillery supporting 101st and others in Vietnam.
Max Ranges: 16km and 32km respectively.
A friend of mine got his start that a way.
His name is Brad too. We were on a three man crew in the early nineties together with yet one more Brad.
Good times.

Things were pretty tame when I was with the 101 (79 to 81). We deployed a lot but all for training. Thank you much and welcome home...
