You know you are old when you are the oldest generation represented in your family.?ÿ My grandparents and parents and all aunts and uncles are deceased.?ÿ I now have to claim all of my older cousins and my sister as being the senior representatives of our generation in order for me to feel like a youngster in comparison.?ÿ I do have one younger cousin, though.
@flga-2
Allow me to introduce you to Daughter #2, Motor Mouth.
@flga-2
Nope.?ÿ And only one father-in-law.?ÿ The first wife's father died before she was ten and her mother never remarried.?ÿ The second wife's mother had died of cancer a few years before I met her and her father never remarried.?ÿ So only one of each.
My one remaining cousin on my father's side is the elder there.?ÿ My mother is still kicking, although not as vigorously as a couple years ago. She has a younger brother and two cousins left. I am the oldest on that side of the next generation.?ÿ Scary.
The age may vary and may be much younger than you think but there is a distinct difference between being young and being old.?ÿ When a young person falls down, everyone laughs, giggles and points.?ÿ When an old person falls down, almost everyone gasps, moves towards the fallen elder and offers to provide assistance.
Being old is being able to remember the building that was in a specific location that was torn down and replaced by a building that has already been torn down and replaced by a newer building.
That brings to mind some of the most beautiful architecture we ever created in the US destroyed.

Very interesting.?ÿ I'm sure European countries, for example, could have a huge number of beautiful old structures that have been obliterated.

Story of my life.?ÿ This made me laugh out loud.?ÿ
@holy-cow As I go through 50 years of files winding down the business, I find it remarkable how many projects I've been involved in that are now gone. Whole condominium projects, replaced by better ones. Whole business centers and housing subdivisions replaced by transportation infrastructure. Remarkable indeed.
If you really want to summarize and compress your life, do it by decades. For me, the 50s were elementary school, the 60s high school, college and wedding, the 70s were early career and raising kids, etc., etc., etc.
You can see how much you've done and how little time you've spent doing it.?ÿ
Not me. I can see how little I've done (at least things that remain relevant) and how much time I've spent doing it.?ÿ
I have went from being short to being MUCH shorter. Now my family thinks Gnome presents are funny!
And through the ages that's gone from "short-ar*e" to "vertically challenged".
I don't think this is old age but when it's late and I'm tired of an evening, I find myself mixing situations, like opening a bottle of pop and saying to myself "home-file-open".
@mathteacher Ah, the 70's, I have a hard time remembering that era...
I agree. as for me, I can't remember the last time that I forgot something!
