The first of the new Hobbit movies premieres here in NZ tomorrow.
While we Kiwis are normally pretty reticent creatures, this baby is generating hype way beyond what we have seen before - and we did think it was over the top for Lord Of The Rings.
And ist not just the movie - of course there is all the product placement, the tie-ins and the partner advertsing programs. Air New Zealand have even redone their in-flight safety video in character 🙁
Anyway I just wanted to say sorry, to apologize to everyone for what they are about suffer.
I'll shuffle back under my rock now

who is definately Bored of The Rings
I first read “The Hobbit” (and got into “The Lord of the Rings”) in about 1961 or 62. I have re-read the series many times over the years, and always enjoy the experience.
I am personally looking forward to the new movie(s), and don't mind all of the crapola that tags along. I don't watch TV (at all), and Internet BS is gone in a “click.”

P.S. I got a GREAT kick out of the "Bored of the Rings" book too!
Hobbitses! Duck!
"There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs."

Hobbitses! Duck!
"Goodbye Pork Pie" is heap of fun, but is not a film that regularly rates in the pantheon of kiwi cinema greats.
Myself, I think "Sleeping Dogs" has more bite...
Hobbitses! Duck!
😀
That is a great quote.
