The words 'banana' and 'issue' have a strange pronunciation.

Maybe in Okiehomie. Not around here.

Had neighbors with the surname Shook. Rhymed with look, book, cook, hook but not spook or luck.

Went to school with some Shooks. Denise was a Roman goddess. Her brother Billy looked like a wanted poster with worms...I always wondered what other tricks genetics could play.

Offal is awful...but Steak & Mushroom Pie and Chicken & Leek Pie make life worthwhile

10. They have 28 days of paid holiday by law, not including maternity leave, sick leave, etc. while we have 10.

We have 10 days of paid holiday by law? I don't remember ever getting that when I worked in the restaurant business. In fact we usually work harder during holidays, and were lucky if the restaurant wasn't open on Christmas....but pay? By law?

Pot pie would have been a welcome relief from curried everything, which is probably fine if you're Anthony Bourdain.

The backstory; We were on a month rotation, working 7/12s, and were honestly hungry. Didn't take long for everyone to get sick of curried food.
We started cooking in the galley when the cooks weren't around.
We showed the crew from the south and east the miracle that is Frito Pie, and they proceeded to show us about a thousand different ways to fix Fried Spam.
Found ONE British pub/grille, one day. They had steak and kidney pie as that day's lunch menu.

There are no Limeys in NETexas.

I can't believe this post hasn't flushed this song to the surface by now...

BTW - The video says Jerry Jeff, but it's really Gary Nunn singing.

I like steak and kidney pie and bangers and mash and there is nothing so wonderful as mushy peas. I also like room temp ales.

We have an English lady here that owns an English type shop, she makes the most wonderful mushy peas. Funny thing she says she doesn't like mushy peas. Her tea is really excellent too.
