Why did John D Rockefellar support the 18th Amendment?

When Henry Ford built his cars they were built for ethanol and that's how he wanted his cars fueled. This contrasted with John D. Rockefellar who wanted the cars run on gasoline. In order to force Ford to fuel his cars on gasoline, John D. Rockefellar got behind the 18th Amendment with his money and political influence. To this day the oil industry does not tolerate competition.
