Here it is January 1 and I'm in first place in our Surveyor's Bowl. Today, I will fall from that position and continue sliding. It doesn't really matter how the games come out. My current lead is only based on getting 12 out of 23 correct. Everyone else can get more total points than I can---EVERYONE OF YOU!

Years ago, I figured out that it is almost impossible to guess who is going to beat who when it comes to bowl games. They are normally too evenly matched. Also, the potential for players being disciplined by not being allowed to play and other players finally being truly healthy can completely change team strengths on game day.

My strategy this year was to put the confidence points in reverse order of the bowl schedule. First game got 35 points. Last game got one point. The team with the better win-loss record was picked to win, with minor revisions. Flipping a coin would have probably had better results. Choosing winners by who comes first or last alphabetically would have probably had better results. Choosing winners by geography i.e. who is further south, or north, or west, or east would have probably had better results.

Congratulations to all of you as you all have a chance of moving to the top of the leaderboard.

looks to me like survon1 is likely to take the bet. lots of points he already collected 205, lots more to be added 306. i tried to bet based on likely outcome, rather than increasing or decreasing chronologically. after yesterday's slip, it doesn't look good for me, either

I saved most of my big points for the later games. I just had no idea on some of the smaller bowls and their teams. I hadn't seen most of the play and only could rely on reading about them.

I didn't do so good yesterday but got the Clemson pick right. I hope to have several right today, as they all have substantial points for me.

But after all, its just in fun.

like the winner will be either PadenCash or Caddman27.

my bride and i have been watching a tv series called the league. good banter, even better insults. funny, even though we don't bet on any fantasy football leagues.

to be honest, i have been betting the vegas line for all of these contests. seems to work ok, as long as you check the line early enough. i really don't know much about football

Just came in from a day in the field and I am as surprised as everyone to be sitting on top on the 1st day of the new year.

Still have a tender spot where TCU, LSU and USC bit me for a combined 72pts. The five others account for 47pts.

I just want to see Alabama lose.

> I just want to see Alabama lose.

Why? Does it have anything to do with their Texas game 3 years ago?

I don't see that game as a Texas loss, they proved themselves very well. That was more of the refs decision to not to blow the whistle and throw flag when Alabama went after a quarterback down on the ground without a helmet.

Actually, I have always enjoyed the look of defeat on Sabin.

Gonna be a long wait, 'cause it ain't going to happen this year.

I'd type out their battle cry, but just can't bring myself to do it. May Shug forgive me, but I don't think the Irish have what it takes to beat Bama.
