We had a long time client go into to hospice today....guy in his 50's. He fought hard..still is fighting hard...but the cancer appears to be winning. Did/tried everything he could to. Very sad...
Yes that is sad, especially when the prime focus of our society is typically petty issues.
Nearly all of the people I know that have passed on were due to cancer. It should be our #1 focus.
My grandfather graduated once from Hospice (recovered), which by their account had never happened before. Several years later he returned with a different ailment (esophagus cancer) and passed on.
I spent a lot of time there, which led me to respect what they do a lot more.
The kitchen is basically all you can eat - whatever you want to eat. My grandfather had some good days and some bad days. On one of his better days, they told him he could have anything he wanted for dinner. He picked a rib steak and vegetables. They went to the store and bought him a steak that evening. Good people.
it's going on 3 years since a very good friend- and the guy who taught me a good bit of what i know- met the same end.
sorry for you and your client. and thanks for the reminder- think i'll plan a weekend soon to take that 3 hour drive and set another point for him.
