Very interesting old movie footage!
Civil War Veteran Reunion - 1913
I hope this gets around to every American to see and reflect on our
historical past. Now, 150 years later, we are even more politically
divided as a nation than in the 1860s. Amazing!!!!!
Please watch to the end where it gives the total casualties for the big
wars.

I believe that part of this is from the Ken Burns documentary on the Civil War. The whole series was excellent.
Ah yes, Ashokan Farewell is playing. That is from the Ken Burns series.
Kind of a sobering reminder of what freedom costs and the Revolution, the war of 1812, Mexican war and the Spanish war were not even mentioned. When I and many others went into the service in 59, it had been only 2 years since the last Civil War Vet passed away and many of us had grandparents and parents who knew those Vets. Us 59ers served with some of the WW2 and Korean War Vets. History and the price of freedom payed seems to overlap much more that we usually think about. This film kind of brings the overlap and that price of freedom home.

Spent some time at Gettysburg this summer... We all found ourselves in tears many times, it was our deepest national tragedy.
