Oh well, could have been something worse. We have a couple theories.

Even though we got a heavy duty beefy stand many years ago and it has served us well, this year's tree was just almost too beefy for me to get into the stand. And we put one too many towels under the stand so the four feet were not able to do their job as well, structurally speaking.

Plus this 100 year old house moves when we all get up and get moving ourselves. All that combined with yesterday's ornament hanging led to this morning's little disaster.

Cest la vie.

Happy Monday!

Oh yeah, the youngest's theory is that we forgot to sing "Oh Christmas Tree" to the tree yesterday.

That's why an engineer has been involved at our house for the past 40 years. Haven't lost a Christmas tree in all that time. A surveyor has also been involved to assure that the final placement is on the property with no possible encroachments.

I see what part of your problem is. December 23 is plenty early for placement of said tree. The longer the intruder is present in the house, the more opportunity for problems of any variety. The tradition should be to erect and decorate the tree one day before doing every bit of your Christmas shopping. A quick stop at your friendly neighborhood bank should produce an adequate supply of cash of various denominations to generally satisfy the greedy rascals. It's always the right color and requires no special handling to get it home safely. I have yet to have anyone ask for a receipt so they can return it for a smaller size.

I thought the whole idea of Christmas was the encroachment of as many friends, neighbors, and relatives as possible come Christmas Eve. Sometimes even the ones you won't speak to the rest of the year. 😉

Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah, and happy holidays to all!

Now get back to work, or you won't get that second lump of coal!
