Lots of rain, lightning, hail and wind last night here in Norman Town. I slept like a baby because I'm deaf. I had to reset my cable box and a couple of clocks when I got up, but everything is still pretty much where I left it. One of our dogs is particularly afeared of thunder and one is deaf like me. Momma stayed up with the nervous one and I and the deaf dog woke up refreshed. Loss of hearing can be a blessing at times.
My rain gauge said 4.5". I checked with the NWS station at the local AP and they were reporting 4.38" in the 12 hours from 10P last night to 10A this morning. I guess mowing season is not far off.

Most of the time it's just a huge annoyance to everybody involved.
That's coming from someone with hearing loss. I hate asking people to repeat themselves.
I attribute my hearing loss to shooting firearms and being around equipment without hearing protection. I bought a couple hundred ear plugs (cost me $17 at Tractor Supply) and hand them out like candy to family when we go shooting or are operating heavy equipment. They are everywhere - all my jackets have them in the pockets...my car has a bunch...heck did you know you can run them through the washer machine and re-use them? They come out of the washer looking brand new.

I have washed a number of them and they do look brand-spankin' new when they make it through the cycle.
I guess I've worn out my ears over the years from loud music to various mechanical contraptions with no mufflers to heavy equipment. Nothing like standing next to backhoe with a 600hp Detroit running at 2200 rpm.
Per the weather - here we are finally in the 60's...fruit trees are starting to bloom...asparagus will be sprouting soon.
My son is going to school in southern California and he said he has been irrigating and hay is almost already to cut.
I woke up a few minutes when I heard the wind roaring and did not have the energy to get up and look outdoors.
Had just finished mowing the yard and today those soggy pine pollen clusters separated and are scattered everywhere.
Did not get my leaf pile burned because yesterday as the prevailaing wind would have carried it to my neighbor's front door and engulfed her home. (My new neighbor with several dozen dogs that lives on the 0.68 acres I tried to buy since 1987 a bad subject)
I've kept a set of noise cancelling headphones with me for years.
Working around the forestry service and spending time around race cars in the 70s put me onto that.
Couple of years ago I upgraded to a pair of Honeywell AM/FM Sync headset radios that I can plug phones into.
Can barely hear the 24hp Briggs & Stratton with them on.
Try standing behind a 155 or 8 inch howitzer when they're firing one. Holy crap! Loudest thing I've ever heard. By far louder than shooting firearms. All the gun bunnies had artillery ears and would shout at each other under normal cirmustances just so they could hear each other. They were all deaf.
